Every time the New Year comes around we start to list all our new resolutions – getting fit, getting your dream job, eating healthier and the list rolls on. Less than a quarter of us will probably stick to our goals. Here we’ll have a look at a few simple ways that you can start looking after yourself to help you achieve some of your New Year health resolutions and start the New Year on a healthier path.

Increase Your Water Intake – Increasing your water intake will help you physically and emotionally. There are 10 billion biochemical reactions per second in the human body and they all are water dependant.  Drinking more water also helps to alkalise your body by taking the acid out of your body. Adding chlorophyll (such as in Bioglan Chlorophyll and Swisse Ultiboost Chlorophyll) can really ramp up the effect and burn more fat by lowering your acid levels.

Eat More Fibre – Fibre especially that contained in green vegetables helps to strip toxins. Make sure to get a good mix of soluble and insoluble fibre in your diet. If you feel you need more, take a quality fibre supplement that doesn't contain loads of sugar, such as Benefiber.

Exercise Everyday – Exercising everyday can really improve your health and overall wellbeing. Consider such things as a walk every evening after dinner. If you can push yourself further try squats, lunges, push-ups, dips and chin-ups to burn fat and keep you strong.

Sleep is the Key - Sleep allows your body to recuperate and repair, and is important for your emotional state and your ability to react to situations and make decisions. It is also vital for clear thinking, learning and memory. Generally adults require 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night. Improving your sleep can make big differences. If you need help sleeping you can try herbal medications such as Nature’s Own Complete Sleep or Caruso’s Natural Health Total Sleep.

Quit Smoking - The best thing a smoker can do for their health is to quit smoking. There are health benefits of quitting for all smokers, regardless of their age, sex or length of time that they have been smoking. There are many different ways of quitting, and different methods work for different people. Sometimes a combination of two or more methods is necessary. You can try nicotine replacement products.

is don’t despair if you’ve already broken your New Year’s Resolutions. You can always still get back on track!
