Health Plus Calcium 600mg 120 Tablets

‘Assists in preventing and treating osteoarthritis'

Why do we need Calcium?

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, and approximately 99% of the body's calcium exists in the bones.  The major function of calcium is building and maintaining bones and teeth. However, calcium is also involved in various metabolic roles such as nerve transmission, contraction of muscles and the regulation of heart muscle function. Thus Calcium is essential for bone health, as well as playing important roles in healthy muscle and nerve function.

Who should be taking Calcium?

There are a significant number of Australians who are at risk of Calcium deficiency.  These include elderly people (particularly those in residential care) and people with dark skin (particularly if veiled) who have inadequate exposure to sunlight. This is in part because the process of ageing reduces the amount of Calcium taken in by the bone, and increased the amount released. In addition, these groups are more likely to have a deficiency in Vitamin D3 (it is strongly recommended that Calcium supplements are coupled with Vitamin D3 supplements), which enables the uptake of Calcium and prevents its release from the bone.

Dosage

Adults: 1 tablet daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

Ingredients

Calcium Carbonate 1500mg.
